LRF is Hiring an Education Manager (Closed)

Our Company

Little Robot Friends is dedicated to developing confidence, creativity, and compassion for kids aged 6-12 through our offering of STEM-focused classes, camps, kits, and games. We aim to provide our students with the tools for turning their imaginations into innovations by building digital skills in the areas of coding, 3D design & printing, graphic design, electronics, robotics and more.

This is exemplified in our weekly Coding Club, where we use a project-based approach to combine various digital skills in new ways. These clubs foster a supportive environment where our students can build the confidence that is essential to growing emotionally and intellectually. This offering has been our most popular program for years.

We also run camps, birthday parties, school workshops, and other special events. Our goal is to build a strong community around STEM and maker culture, and support its growth within East York and the GTA.

The Position

Education Manager is a bit of a catch-all for LRF. The main role is to work as a liaison between parents, kids, and educators and keep classes running smoothly. This can include:

  • Responding to parent or partner emails
  • Balancing the schedule and matching instructors to classes
  • Working with content developers to refine & develop course material
  • Engaging the community to foster new enrolment
  • Working with others to develop marketing materials when needed
  • Responding to student needs and making sure they are challenged and having fun

We expect that during the early months of the role, the education manager will also lead the instruction of some classes to familiarize themselves with the class material and our teaching style.

We currently are offering courses both virtually AND in-person and have a lot of opportunity to grow in both areas. In fact, we expect that our Education Manager will eventually be active in developing new opportunities for growth.

Work-load and Salary

This position is probably a 5-day-a-week job, but since Saturday is typically our busiest day for programming it would be great to have someone who could be available on that day (Tues-Sat). It’s not essential, but ideal.

This position could also be a 4-day-a-week job, since we currently schedule our programming on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Most classes start in the afternoons, so other tasks can be completed in the earlier hours.

LRF highly respects work/life balance and we believe it is possible to create a supportive work environment that hinges on trust and compassion. The type of environment we want to develop for our students should be the same one we nurture for ourselves.

We strongly support diversity and inclusivity and our track record speaks for itself.

Based on what is described above we are looking to find someone in the $48k-$56k salary range, or in the $28-$32/h range if you are looking for part-time or reduced hours.

We are also open to offering a performance bonus that could add an additional $10-20k for helping us meet revenue targets. We currently don’t offer any benefits, but if the role works we would be open to implement a benefit plan to support you.

Our ideal candidate will share in our passion to grow Little Robot Friends to be a strong and sustainable company, and will therefore share in the rewards of that success.

Final Words

We love connecting the imaginations and creativity of our students to the skills required to actualize their ideas. The confidence to solve big problems is essential to the future protection of our communities and our planet. At LRF, we aim to generate that early spark that can have a lasting impression in the lives of young artists and innovators. Come help us deliver on that goal.
